Sugar Salon's journey began in 2005 when Laura George, a native of Helena, Montana, decided to bring her passion for hair styling back to her hometown. Nestled in the evolving Great Northern Development, Sugar Salon quickly made its mark as Montana's first Bumble and Bumble exclusive salon. With a vision to elevate the local hair scene and share her expertise with the community she holds dear, Laura embarked on a mission to create a salon experience like no other…
Fast forward 20 years, and Sugar Salon has become a cornerstone of Helena's beauty scene, evolving and adapting along the way. After a few moves, we've finally found our new forever home at 431 N. Last Chance Gulch, where we continue to uphold our commitment to exceptional service, creativity, and community connection. From our humble beginnings to our current thriving space, Sugar Salon remains dedicated to making every client feel confident, beautiful, and ready to take on the world—one fabulous hairstyle at a time.

LAURA GEORGE • OWNER / STYLIST
Hi! I’m Laura. A Helena native, I returned to my hometown in 2004 to realize my dream of opening Sugar Salon. My journey has been shaped by prestigious institutions like The Aveda Institute Minneapolis, where I honed my craft, and by immersive experiences with industry leaders such as Vidal Sassoon in San Francisco and London, and the Aveda Academy in London. My passion for razor cuts and coloring has been nurtured through extensive training at Bumble and bumble in NYC. Beyond the salon, I find joy in family moments with my daughter Vivian, as well as in exploring the great outdoors and embarking on adventures near and far. At Sugar Salon, my dedication to excellence shines through every razor cut and vibrant color creation, reflecting my commitment to making every client feel truly beautiful.
CRYSTAL MARTIN • STYLIST
Born in Portland, OR, and raised in California, I embarked on my journey in cosmetology, graduating in 2004. It was during my time doing hair in Germany that I discovered my true passion for the craft and became devoted to continuous education. Staying at the forefront of my field is paramount to me, and I eagerly pursue knowledge of new products, cutting techniques, and color theory to ensure exceptional service for my guests.
Listening attentively to my guests, understanding their needs, and respecting their hair are principles I hold dear. With mastery in various hair coloring techniques, from foil highlighting to balayage and fashion colors, I strive to cater to every individual's desires. Certified in keratin bond, I-tip, and hand-tied hair extensions, I am committed to providing top-notch service, ensuring that every client leaves feeling beautiful and adoring their hair. Outside the salon, my greatest joy is spending time with my two children, Matthew and Asher, engaging in outdoor adventures, bike rides, artistic endeavors, and culinary experiments in the kitchen.
